Friday April 4 in Wagga Wagga, the National Student Art Glass Prize 2014 was opened. This is a major national exhibition with a significant award hosted every two years. The ANU School of Art was represented by 10 current students or recent graduates, and this cohort represented a large percentage of the exhibition.

The calibre of the works was outstanding and one of the runners up was announced as the ANU School of Art Glass Workshop’s Hannah Gasson. The Wagga Wagga Art Gallery was so impressed with her work, made during her second year, that they acquired it for the museum.

Frank Howath, director of the Australian Museum gave the opening address and is pictured below with Hannah and her work. Head of the Glass Workshop, Richard Whiteley, was in attendance and reported that it was a lovely evening and a well-attended event.
