Throughout her childhood in rural Iowa, Darlys Ewoldt felt compelled to draw and make things from a variety of materials. She was introduced to using metals at Drake University, where she recieved a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 1977. In 1982, she earned a Master of Fine Arts Degree from Indiana University. During the ensuing years, Ewoldt has lived and worked in Chicago, Illinois. She has been the recipient of numerous grants and awards. In 2006, Ewoldt presented a workshop at an International Metals Conference in Sydney, Australia and was artist-in-residence at the Canberra School of Art in the Gold and Silver Workshop. She also conducted workshops on forming metal and patination processes in the United States. Her work has been included in many exhibitions, public and private collections and publications. In addition to working in her studio, Ewoldt currently teaches at Columbia College Chicago and the Lillstreet Art Centre.
