Julie Blyfield, jeweller and object maker, has spent the last 20 years creating stunning pieces influenced by the landscape of South Australia from the Simpson desert to Kangaroo Island. She uses metal forming and texturing techniques often with colour to create organic surface textures in her work.
Her influences come from a family history of garden lovers and her fathers creative hobbyist exploits. Her visits and referencing of historical sites throughout her career has greatly influenced her work. Visiting the Natural History Museum in London in the UK with their collections of pressed flowers and plants, working on urban archaeological digs in the outskirts of Adelaide and studying mourning jewellery collections.
