Kit Devine currently lectures in digital visual effects and video. Her PhD topic investigates the role that user preference for engagement strategy has on their experience of an immersive and interactive virtual heritage environment.
Kit initially trained as a graphic designer and has also completed postgraduate study in Computer Science. She has worked in the computer graphics industry as a 3D animator since 1993 in film, game and advertising in Australia, Los Angeles and London. Kit's movie credits include Super Mario Brothers and Inspector Gadget 2. Her commercial work has won a large number of awards at festivals including the New York Festivals, BDA Promax Asia Hong Kong, Australian Television Awards, the Australian Effects and Animation Festival and the New York CLIO Awards. Kit has designed and taught courses at AFTRS from 2004 to 2010. She is currently undertaking a Phd with COFA (UNSW) and the iCinema and her research is into the effect that user preference for engagement strategy has on the presence experienced in virtual heritage environments. She is building an immersive interactive 3d environment that models the Sydney Rocks from 1788 to the present day to use a a test area for her research. Kit cares deeply about her students and is committed to fostering their development as media practitioners. Kit joined the Photography and Media Arts team in 2011.
