Vivienne Binns OAM was a lecturer in the Painting Workshop from 2008 until 2012. She currently remains advisor on some postgraduate panels and is a regular visitor to the workshop.
Vivienne came to prominence in the late 1960s, producing paintings with a bold, psychedelic aesthetic. She has pursued diversity as a deliberate artistic position and the meaning of being an Australian artist with local and European histories in the Asia Pacific region. Her abiding interests lie in art -making as a human activity, which occurs in all social groups. The series In Memory of the Unknown Artist reflects this through pictorial and patterned surfaces.
