Dr Tony Curran is a Canberra based artist researching painting, drawing, video, and coding in order to test the relationship between the programmatic forms of art and illusions of the spontaneous. Curran graduated with a PhD in Fine Art from Charles Sturt University in 2015 and has exhibited in Sydney and Melbourne in solo and group exhibitions. He teaches in the Painting and Foundation Studies Workshops in addition to the Centre for Art History and Theory at the ANU School of Art and Design. Dr Curran was a visiting artist at the ANU in Painting in 2015 and at the National Portrait Gallery in 2013. In 2016 was awarded the ANU Vice-Chancellor’s College Artist Fellowship.  He was a finalist in the Archibald Prize in 2015 as well as the Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship in 2014.
