Paul Thirkell's research and print-based artwork centres around an ongoing, diary-like collection of printed images and photographs. This material, collected by design and chance, is used both as a means of weaving personal visual narratives and questioning the so called truth of knowledge transmitted through photography and print. Through a digital version of the traditional medium of photomontage, the material is recombined and assembled in a manner similar to that of a poet or writer manipulating language.
