Creative residencies in archaeology, Create NSW Regional Artists Fellowship (2018-2020)

Rowan Conroy, Mixed wireframe and dense point cloud rendering from Photogrammetry of the Ancient Theatre of Paphos, 2019
Rowan Conroy
Value: $55,000
This project has seen Rowan undertake two periods as artist in residence at The Paphos Theatre Archaeological Project in Cyprus. Using a variety of hardware and software approaches Rowan has creatively mapped and documented the excavation from the point of view of an artist who embraces the congruities between art and archaeology. The use of drones as a platform for data acquisition from the perspective of an artist has been key to this project. The success of this approach has seen Rowan appointed as Associate Director Artistic Interpretation for the Paphos Theatre Project in an ongoing capacity.
