Advocating the Arts continues a national conversation on the importance of the arts and cultural engagement in Australia.
Please join us at the ANU School of Art for a panel discussion with Tamara Winikoff, Executive Director of the National Association for the Visual Arts (NAVA); David Broker, Director of Canberra Contemporary Art Space (CCAS); and Ellis Hutch, artist and PhD candidate at the Australian National University, to discuss current issues affecting the arts, its public funding, and the potential for positive change for artists and arts organisations.
In light of recent federal funding changes to the arts in Australia, this discussion will look at how these changes are now having real consequences for artists and the organisations that support them. These changes have affected all levels of the arts, with the rationalisation of the national cultural institutions to the loss of funding for small and medium organisations like NAVA and CCAS.
The discussion will take place in the School of Art Gallery with time for questions at the end.
