Alison Alder

Alison Alder is a visual artist whose work blurs the line between studio, community and social/political art practice. She has worked in the political poster making workshops of Megalo (where she is currently Artistic Director) and Redback Graphix and has also worked with Aboriginal organisations in the Northern Territory and Western Australia. She received an International Year of Tolerance Fellowship from the Australia Council in recognition of her work toward social justice and equity through art practice. Her recent work reflects on Australian history, the history wars and who gets to tell the story. Alison makes screen printed paper-cuts based on key images of Australian history and then animates the paper-cuts creating new juxtapositions and relationships.
