Joan Ross

Ross works across most mediums including sculpture, drawing, video and installation. Her recent video animations reconfigure early Australian colonial paintings as backdrops. Her works consider the connection to and disconnection with nature and ultimately the attempt to civilise nature, whilst also looking at imperialism, its power relationships and racism, consumerism, throw away culture, surveillance, fear and ownership. Joan Ross teaches at the College of Fine Arts Sydney.
