Jacob Raupach is an artist based in Wagga Wagga, NSW. His work addresses the relationships between industry, labour, history and failure; in particular, how photographs and objects can contribute alternate historical narratives and critiques of these intertwining systems. He has explored these issues through photographs, artist’s books, sculpture and installation. Jacob strongly believes it is necessary for art to hold a mirror up to our past whilst also offering considerations and solutions for the future. In response he creates artefacts that deal with abstract forces like capitalism, climate change and systemic invisibility and oppression through a realist and documentary aesthetic.

Jacob has recently exhibited at the Wagga Wagga Art Gallery, Bus Projects, Underbelly Arts Festival and the Centre for Contemporary Photography amongst others. In 2015 he was a finalist in the Josephine Ulrick & Win Schubert Photography Award and was a recipient of the Artstart grant from the Australia Council of the Arts. He was the inaugural 2015 Young Regional Artist Scholarship through Arts NSW.

Jacob is a visiting artist in Photography and Media Arts.
