The title Atmospherics serves a dual purpose for this exhibition; it refers not only refers to the spatial mechanics of atmospheric perspective, an integral component of classic colour theory at work within Renaissance perspective, but also to something much less well defined, to the suggestion of a meta-physical world.

Simply, these are works that are playing with ways of access to the transformation of the physical through the language of imagined space.

Ella Whateley is a PhD candidate in Painting at School of Art, College of Arts and Social Sciences, Australian National University.
