Works by Martine Peters

The digital single thread control (TC1) handloom provides the unique opportunity for combining a refined digital design with material flexibility. This modern-day version of the ancient draw loom and 19th century punch-card loom controls each warp thread independently, allowing the weaver great flexibility of designing. The blueprint of the weaving is predetermined by the computer design, but the finished pieces are still woven by hand. In my work this freedom is emphasized through sensitivity for the integration of the graphic and haptic process. The Works featured here are all uniquely designed wall pieces that spring from a variety of inspirational sources that were generated while living and studying in Ohio USA.
