Leah Bullen, Places you'd rather be II, 2015, monoprint on paper, 37 x 95cm

Featuring works by Helen Braund, Leah Bullen, Tiffany Cole, Gosia Pilat and Lia Tajcnar.

This exhibition is based on the artists shared creative longing for the sea. Based in Canberra, visits to the sea offered the artists an inspiring escape and fed their ideas of the sea as a metaphor of the imagination.

The works in this exhibition play on this idea of a ‘constructed’ representation of the sea. These works not only draw on how the artists themselves see and experience the sea and aquatic creatures in their natural state, but also toy with ideas of how the sea is imagined and interpreted culturally.
