The Desert and the Sea: The point between two places

In New Mexico where the earth meets the sky, the horizon gracefully reclines and the earth pulls like a magnet. My memory of the sea presses me to the sand - extraordinary, ordinary rocks, each its own strong character. The arc of a wave crashes, returning to itself, taking everything in its wake. The mountains were under the sea, the ocean on the desert floor - my thoughts become immense, answers to the bone.

Dana Chodzko is a visiting artist in the School of Art's Sculpture Workshop.
