Fringe Forum: Nicci Haynes

How a drawing project in the Kimberley turned into an obsession with James Joyce’s Finnegans Wake

During a long bushwalking trip in the remote Kimberley region Nicci Haynes had intended to draw the landscape, but instead wandered into the strange literary territory of Finnegans Wake, James Joyce’s epic novel which is reputed to be the most difficult book in the English language. Nicci will speak about the ensuing body of work, which reflects on both drawing and writing.

Nicci Haynes graduated from the Printmedia and Drawing Workshop in 2007 and has been exhibiting both nationally and internationally since that time. She is currently working at the ANU School of Art.
