New York based Nina Katchadourian was born in Stanford, California and grew up spending every summer on a small island in the Finnish archipelago, where she still spends part of each year. Katchadourian’s work explores concepts of translation, lineage and the interaction between humans

 

and the natural world across a range of media
including installation, video, sound based works, public projects and interventions. Her work has been exhibited at places such as PS1/MoMA, the Serpentine Gallery, New Langton Arts, Artists Space, SculptureCenter, and the Palais de Tokyo. In March 2011 The Dunedin Public Art Gallery in New Zealand exhibited "Seat Assignment," an exhibition of photographic and video works made while on airplanes. Katchadourian is represented by Catharine Clark gallery in San Francisco.
