Creatively explore digital printing on hard and soft materials and surfaces in the ANU’s state of the art Inkjet Research Facility with Dr Rowan Conroy. Experiment alongside practicing creative artists. Produce your own images. Generate ideas in digital inkjet printing directly applicable in the classroom. Participants will work together creatively with practicing visual artists in the ANU’s state of the art Inkjet Research Facility. Using their fundamental knowledge of digital printing, such as delivered in ‘Foundations of digital printing in the visual arts’, participants will explore recent developments in digital photography and inkjet printing technologies at both small and large scale in UV cured printing. Participants will make their own creative artwork by collaboratively exploring different hard and soft substrates, such as glass, wood and plastic, and different creative printing techniques, on the IRFs large-format UV cured flatbed printer, as well as its conventional wide-format inkjet printer. Participants will have a creatively stimulating experience while reflecting on their own creative practice with their peers and contemporary artists. Participants will reinforce skills in digital file preparation and management and digital printing techniques which will be directly applicable back in the class room.
2.00 pm —2.30pm Participants will prepare their digital files for the specific printers in the Inkjet Research Facility
2.30 pm — 3.30pm Participants will be shown the controls of the UV cured printing and wide-format printing
3.30 pm — 5.30pm Participant will experiment with UV cured and pigment printing
