Kay S Lawrence

art forum VISITING ARTIST

Kay S Lawrence’s feminist art practice critically engages with ecological, physical and spiritual aspects of her surroundings, interweaving image, metaphor and abstraction. She approaches contemporary issues through documentary practices and traditions of women’s work. These works reference the notion of an anthropomorphic-centric society and the apparent inability of most of its members to comprehend the exponential, detrimental effects of their actions.

Kay graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy from Griffith University in 2014. Her international residencies and travels have fostered transnational perspectives on contemporary social and ecological issues.
Kay is a visiting artist in the Textiles Workshop. www.kaylawrence.net
