Close Encounters: the Voyage of Bruni D’Entrecasteaux

Join artist Nicola Dickson as she discusses her installation, Close Encounters: the Voyage of Bruni D’Entrecasteaux.

During the French naval voyage commanded by Bruni D’Entrecasteaux to Australia and the Western Pacific in 1791-1794, encounters with people and place were recorded by the artist Jean Piron. The nature of these meetings between minds and bodies, each with their own desires, needs and understandings is explored in this exhibition which re-presents engravings derived from Piron’s drawings.
