Portraits of a Tea Cosy One-day workshop with Mark Crocker: photographing art works

Craft ACT: Craft and Design Centre is proud to partner with the Australian National University to offer craft practitioners, designer-makers and artists a special, one-off opportunity to learn from experienced professional photographer, Mark Crocker to produce high quality photographs of artworks, products and objects. This workshop is a great opportunity for non-professional photographers to expand on and develop their skills.
 
Date: Monday 16 March, 2015
 
 
Duration: 10am – 5pm (with a one-hour lunch break from 1 – 2pm).
 
Location: Photography and Media Arts Department, Australian National University School of Art, Ellery Crescent, Acton, ACT.
 
Number of participants: maximum 8
 
Weekend workshop fee: $150 general public; discounted rate for students and Craft ACT members $100. Tea and coffee provided, please bring your own lunch.

Workshop Outline:
The development of digital photography and inexpensive speed lights makes high quality
reproduction of artwork accessible to non-professional photographers. The key to artwork
reproduction is knowledge, practice and professional workflow. By the end of 6-hour workshop the participants will be able to work independently and have practiced a full run-through of set up, image capture and editing. Detailed workshop notes will be provided.
The workshop incorporates:
  • Camera set up
  • Shooting with natural light and speed lights
  • Lighting setup for 3D, 2D including works
  • Image capture for correct exposure and white balance
  • Calibrating computer monitors
  • Introduction to Lightroom software
  • Importing files into Lightroom adjusting colour, tone and sharpening
  • File cataloguing and management
  • Exporting files for online and print
Equipment and materials required
  • Digital Camera
  • Camera manual
  • Tripod
  • Small 3D or 2D artwork to photography
  • Optional laptop and Lightroom 4 with either 14 day free trial or license
