Public Lecture: Dr Alasdair Foster

ANU SOA&D Public Lecture Program

Dr Alasdair Foster is the former director of the Australian Centre for Photography, current
principal consultant for Cultural Consulting Corporation and adjunct Associate professor
at RMIT. He has had a long international career curating important photography and
video. In a conversational session he will discuss some of the points that, over the years,
keep coming up when he reviews portfolios by emerging and established artists around
the world. He will look the practice of contemporary photographers in terms of four
‘spaces’: inside the head of the photographer, within the body of work, within the space
of presentation and within the world.
