This exhibition consists of a series of drawings that have been made in relation to the idea of self and identity. The series can be seen as a reflection of a journey and I or struggle that the artist has undertaken to understand not just the object or subject of his drawings, but also the interrelation between the object, Islam and the artist. The main subject of the drawing are traditional Islamic art objects from Southeast Asia.

Safrizal is a PhD candidate in the Printmedia & Drawing Workshop at the ANU School of Art.
