Sculptural Felted Forms with Anita Larkin

Known since Neolithic times, felt has the ability to form intriguing shapes. In this introductory workshop un-spun wool fibres will be felted into sculptural shapes using agitation and soapy water. Learn fundamental techniques of felting hollow forms using a resist, then vary amounts of wool fibre to make unique organic structures. Learn how to plan a 3 dimensional object using a 2d resist. Explore the wonderful realm of sculpture in felt.

NOTE: All workshop  materials and equipment will be supplied, please bring is a towel and a plastic apron.

 

Biography: Anita Larkin has been making sculpture and felt forms for over 25 years. Anita has a Bachelor of Visual Arts, Sydney College of the Arts (1993), and is represented by Defiance Gallery in Sydney. She has exhibited her work nationally and internationally, in exhibitions such as The Wynne Prize, The Blake Prize, The Tamworth Textile Triennial, Sculpture by the Sea, Sculptural Felt International, and The Beijing Biennial. Anita is currently a sessional lecturer at National Art School in sculpture, and has had her work included in many collections, including Wollongong Art Gallery, The National Textile Collection, and The Australian War Memorial Art Collection. www.anitalarkin.com
