The Venetian Wave symposium

Different generations of makers will be presenting, so this will be a unique opportunity to explore the impact of Venetian glass on contemporary glass practice. The discussion will include the influences and ideas around the historical and aesthetic importance of glass-making in Venice. The speakers are: Lino Tagliapietra, Nancy Callan, Darin Denison, Dave Walters, Clare Belfrage and Nadège Desgenétez. This public event will be hosted by the School of Art at the Australian National University.

Session 1. 2:00-3:30 PM

Clare Belfrage: Lino and the Venetian influence within Australia.

Nadège Desgenétez: The wider legacy within contemporary practice.

Lino Tagliapietra: A glass blower’s journey.

3:30-4:00 PM Afternoon Tea

Directions: The School of Art is located at the South end of Childers St. Acton on the ANU campus. Parking in the paid gravel lot, on the right hand side as you approach the School is advised. The School is a large white Art Deco building. Enter through the steps at the front, come into the foyer and head up the stairs (follow the signs) to the first level. This is where the Lecture Theatre is. The reception at 5PM will be onthe ground level, in the Glass Workshop.
