Kirsten Farrell presents work in progress for her PhD in Printmedia and Drawing. Ask a question,
choose your colours and know your fortune.

"I made a sequential list of all the colours from the novel The Vivisector by Patrick White, also noting the page number of each.

(The protagonist of The Vivisector, Hurtle Duffield, is an Australian modernist artist whose preoccupation with truth in art overshadows any relationship upon which he embarks.)

Using paint swatches I interpreted the list and made it into a series of collages using paint swatches and index cards.

Next I reread The Vivisector and for each collage determined an oracular reading from the pages where the colours were found.

If you wish to engage The Vivisector Oracle, let yourself be drawn to a particular set of colours, and choose one, or more. Consult the accompanying texts to find your meaning."
