The annual ACT Planning Awards were held on November 19 by the ACT Planning Institute of Australia (PIA) that recognised innovation, achievement and excellence in urban and regional planning.

Important recognition was earned by the ANU School of Art Field Studies' collaboration with the major research project South East Coastal Adaptation (SECA): Coastal urban climate futures in SE Australia from Wollongong to Lakes Entrance.

The collaboration won the Planning Ideas award for its innovative approach to climate change at the local level culminating in a visual art exhibition NOW&WHEN.

In addition the SECA project, including the SECA research and the University of Canberra coastal planning course, received a commendation in the Cutting Edge Research and Teaching category.

The award winning entry will now go on to be considered for the national awards in March 2014 in Sydney.
