Staff and alumni from the ANU School of Art Glass Workshop have been featured in two exhibitions in Berlin.

Collaborative Endeavor: Contemporary Glass from Canberra + Berlin is a group exhibition at the Australian Embassy Germany that celebrates the two-year collaboration between the Berlin Glas e.V. studio and the ANU School of Art. Since 2013, Berlin Glas e.V. has hosted five graduates from the ANU SoA Glass Workshop.

The exhibition features the work of these emerging artists: Ruth Oliphant, Madeline Prowd, Marcel Hoogstad Hay, Alexandra Frasersmith and Charles Walker, along with founding head of ANU SoA Glass workshop Klaus Moje AO, current head of workshop Richard Whiteley, and Berlin Glas e.V artist Jesse Günther.

It coincides with Distant Reflections at lorch+seidel contemporary by Klaus More AO and Richard Whiteley. In 1982, Moje started the glass program at the School of Art which included a wide range of experimental methods including kiln forming, carving and ‘cold-working’ techniques. The course has since developed into one of the most highly regarded glass programs worldwide, now led by Whiteley.

The two exhibitions highlight the influence of the ANU SoA Glass Workshop on generations of artists and the ongoing exchange between German and Australian glass practices.
