Four ANU School of Art researchers are presenting their work this week at Impact9: Printmaking in the Post Print Age, held at the China Academy of Art, Hangzhou, China. The 2015 event is the ninth in a series of International Print Conferences that take place in various locations around the world.

Alison Alder, Nicci Haynes, and Caren Florance, from the ANU School of Art Printmedia and Drawing Workshop, and Rowan Conroy, from Photography and Media Arts, are presenting talks and exhibitions on a range of topics.

Alison Alder will exhibit both digital and analog works which refer to the demise of hard copy newspapers, the portrayal of public figures in mainstream print media and the manipulation of analog and digital print technologies. Her installation acknowledges the growth and changing nature of contemporary news feeds.

Nicci Haynes’ paper ‘Print, performance and public space’ explores how contemporary technology and changing exhibition circumstances informs the way work is made and presented. Using performance and video rather than the 'edition' of traditional print media, her work reproduces through iteration, and the 'exhibition' expands beyond the gallery into public space.

Caren Florance’s research is based on collaborative projects with poets, including many from Canberra, which she will discuss in her paper 'The Print-performed Poem: Collaborative material poetics and the artists' book'. Rowan Conroy is presenting a paper titled 'Photographic Materiality in the Age of the Inkjet Print' and will also exhibit his work 'Ink limits: recent artists photobooks and prints'.
