Art Monthly Australasia's November Issue has been guest-edited by ANU School of Art staff member Raquel Ormella focusing on the theme 'Canberra Contemporary'.
The magazine was launched last night at Craft ACT with the opening of a specially commissioned exhibition The Uniform Project by Canberra based artists Alison Alder (Head of ANU Printmedia and Drawing Workshop), Dan Edwards and Megan Jackson (both ANU Textiles workshop alumni). Each artist designed a 'uniform for women artists', and arts writer and ANU School of Art graduate Yolande Norris has written about the project in this ACT focus edition.
Other contributors include ANU School of Art staff Jay Kochel, Caren Florence, Rowan Conroy, Anne Brennan, and former staff member Patsy Hely. Articles cover topics such as Artist Run Initiatives in Canberra, the impact of property prices on the arts sector, the ongoing battle of arts funding, the state of craft and design, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art in the capital.
'The Uniform Project' is part of DESIGN Canberra, and is showing at Craft ACT until November 25.
