On Friday, March 22 the Art School Anecdote Live Event took place in the ANU School of Art Courtyard. The event marked the culmination of visiting artists Zoë Walker and Neil Bromwich's project that aimed to reflect upon the history and role of the School of Art. The night included live art, performance, anecdote and re-enactment by past and current art students, re-telling histories and refreshing memories in a playful and eccentric style. Participating artists and performers included Blaide Lallemand, John Reid, Ellis Hutch and Caroline Huf, Kirsten Farrell, David Williams, Martyn Jolly, David Keany, Dennis Finn, Frank Maconochie, Claire Granata, Gordon Bull amongst many others.
The event was highly successful in entertaining the crowd who had diverse associations with the School of Art, past and present. It was equally successful in reflecting upon the history of the School and the role it has played, and continues to play, in the life of the city of Canberra.
The Art School Anecdote was a collaboration with Canberra Contemporary Arts Space, with the assistance of Arts ACT, and it drew on the skills and support of a dedicated team of staff and students.
