Asialink Arts announced its successful 2014 Arts Residents on February 20.
Included in the successful residents are ANU School of Art graduates and staff members, Jay Kochel and Daniel Edwards.
From 286 applications to the program nation-wide, Asialink Arts awarded 30 residency grants to Australian arts professionals to Asia.
The contribution of up to $12,000 provides recipients with professional development opportunities in Asia, and enable the sharing of skills, knowledge and networks with local host communities.
Jay Kochel completed his PhD in 2013 and was awarded the residency to Kyoto later in 2014. He will further his research examining magical and fetish artefacts.
Daniel, an Honours graduate of the Textiles Workshop, played the role of Head Weaver on the Canberra Centenary Community Tapestry in 2013. He will be in residence in Shanthiroad in Bangalore, India, where he will explore notions of identity through patterns, fibres and textiles.
