Earlier this year, the School of Art & Design was awarded a grant by the ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences, to assist with funding a student mural competition.

Following many competitive submissions, the work, Dozens of Artisans by student Nathan Ashley was selected to be digitised and installed on the external windows of the Foundation Room Office.

The theme of the grant was Wellbeing, Diversity and Inclusion, with the aim of furthering a community with a greater, self-driven understanding and interest in the wellbeing, diversity and inclusion of our colleagues and college students.

Nathan notes, that ‘overall, the work is all about enjoying and creating art and feeling that you are part of a creative community that is caring, supportive and inspiring.”

Nathan Ashley was paid an honorarium of $750, with the Visual Arts Endowment funding the digitisation and installation of the mural.

Nathan Ashley is student at the ANU School of Art & Design, currently completing his Bachelor of Visual Arts, with an interest in painting and printmaking.
