2012 Encouragement of Australian Contemporary Art Award Announced
ANU School of Art graduate Chris Carmody has been awarded the Qantas Foundation 2012 Encouragement of Australian Contemporary Art Award for the ACT. A winner from each state and territory takes home a prize which includes $8,000 cash and a $10,000 Qantas voucher to reward them for their excellence and originality as well as support their continuing creative practice.
Chris was awarded a combined BA/BA (Visual) in 2008, with majors in Art History and in Painting. In 2009 he was awarded a BA (Visual) with 1st Class Honours in painting. Earlier this year Chris’s work was included in the exhibition Word of Mouth: encounters with Abstract Art at the Canberra Museum and Gallery (23 June to 19 August 2012).
