Cité Internationale des Arts residency announced

Liz Coats has been awarded a Power Institute, Sydney University, Cité Internationale des Arts residency in Paris for 2014. She will take up the Residency in April for three months, to further her research into the origins of abstract painting. Liz completed a PhD in the Painting Workshop, ANU School of Art in 2012.

The Power Institute at the University of Sydney offers a number of residencies across three categories for their studio at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris. The Cité Internationale des Arts was established in the early 1960s to provide studio accommodation to a range of French and international creative practitioners. The Power Institute residency has become a prestigious award with a notable list of past recipients.

The ANU School of Art is well represented in the 2014 winners with not only Liz Coates being selected under the artist category but Gordon Bull, Art Theory lecturer, historian and writer, selected under the art writer and historian category. Gordon will undertake his three month residency later in 2014.
