Associate Professor David Hansen will present the inaugural Ross Steele AM Fellowship lecture for the State Library of New South Wales on 1 March. 'Around the room' is a deep dive into one of the Library's great paintings, George Lambert's 'The Convex Mirror' (1916).

In 2020 David Hansen received the State Library of New South Wales's inaugural Ross Steele AM Fellowship to study works of art in the Library's collections. As well as a number of colonial artists' works on paper, he made a close study of one of the gems of the C20th painting collection, George Lambert's 'The Convex Mirror' (1916). This work (and its many resonances) will be the focus of Dr Hansen's free online (Zoom) lecture.
