Dr Kate Warren joins CAHAT as Lecturer Art History and Curatorship

The Centre is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Kate Warren, Level B Lecturer Art History and Curatorship. Kate brings a great range of experience and skills to the position. She is an ECR who completed her PhD in 2016 at Monash and whose first degree was a Bachelor of Science. She has significant curatorial expertise, having been Assistant Curator at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image in Melbourne from 2007-2011 and having worked in an independent capacity for several years.
Recent exhibitions include I don’t want to be there when it happens, co-curated with Dr Mikala Tai, Director of 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art, and Future Tense, (with Artistic Director Alicia Renew) for Channels Video Art Festival, Melbourne. She has tutored since 2012 and since 2016 was the coordinator of the first year program, Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture at Monash University. Her research focuses on cross-overs between contemporary art, cinema, video and photography. She publishes extensively, including critical articles in emaj: Online Journal of Art, Senses of Cinema, Persona Studies, History of Photography, Discipline and Australian and New Zealand Journal of Art, and is an editor of Peephole Journal, an online journal dedicated to creative film criticism.
