The Capital Arts Patrons Organisation’s top award, the 2017 CAPO Fellowship, has gone to ANU School of Art recent PhD candidate, and Lecturer in Foundation Studies Erica Seccombe. The award was announced by patron Paul McDermott at the Canberra Museum and Gallery at the CAPO Masked Ball on Saturday 22 October.

Erica was awarded the CAPO Fellowship on the strength of her achievements and contributions to interdisciplinary practice-led research. The Fellowship will go toward making a new body of work for a solo show at Megalo Print Studio & Gallery in 2017. This exhibition will be based on material Erica collected while on a 2015 residency at the London Natural History Museum, supported by an artsACT project grant.

A few other Art School alumni and colleagues won prizes as well, including Millán Pintos-Lopez, Tom Buckland, Megan Jackson, Raquel Ormella, Hannah Gason, Phoebe Porter, Rosalind Lemoh, Sanne Koelemij, Rebecca Selleck and Julia Thwaites.

A full list of winners can be seen at the link below.

The CAPO Fellowship, with a value of up to $15 000, is funded through the sale of donated art and business items at the annual fundraiser and auction, while other awards are sponsored by businesses trading in this region.
