International Interdisciplinary Artist-in-Residence 2015 Craft & Design Disciplines

We are pleased to announce that German artist and designer Philipp Weber has been selected as the 2015 International Interdisciplinary Artist-in-Residence hosted by the Craft and Design area at ANU School of Art. Weber's work utilises craft media as a means of inquiry into conceptual themes. Weber's practice cuts across many traditional craft disciplines in a way that reinterprets, questions, and celebrates the disciplines. The applicant pool was very competitive. There were a total of 49 applicants representing 29 countries and nationalities including UAE, Canada, China, Costa Rica, Croatia, Czech Republic, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, India, Japan, Lebanon, Mexico, Netherlands, Pakistan, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Scotland, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Syrian Palestine, Taiwan, Thailand, UK, USA.
The committee comprised of the following people: Richard Whiteley, Convenor of Craft and Design; Ashley Eriksmoen, Head of Furniture; Valerie Kirk, Head of Textiles and Convenor of Higher Degree Research; Greg Daly, Head of Ceramics; and Simon Cottrell, Lecturer in Gold & Silver.
