Lake Light Sculpture 2015

Thursday 26 March 2015

The Australian National University School of Art is proud to again support the annual Lake Light Sculpture event in Jindabyne.

The School of Art provides a residency for a selected artist to create new work in the Sculpture Workshop. This residency has proven to be a highly productive time for the artists and inspiring for students to gain exposure to their work and processes.

The Sculpture Workshop has provided longstanding support for the event and this year  in previous years staff from the school will form part of the expert panel that determines the competition winners.

Previous winners of the residency prize include Ben Eyles whose work Don’t forget about me!, a rhinoceros made from recycled cartons and illuminated at night, proved incredibly popular.

The outdoor sculpture exhibition and competition is held over the Easter weekend transforming the picturesque foreshore of Lake Jindabyne in the Snowy Mountains into a sculpture scape.

The event encourages participation from professional sculptors at all stages in their career as well as community groups and local hobbyists. Distinctive to Lake Light Sculpture is how the evocative setting is given a new dimension at night under the Easter moon and with many sculptures incorporating illumination to make the most of a receptive evening audience.

Lake Light Sculpture 2015 runs from Friday 3 April to Monday 6 April with sculptures available for viewing from 8 am to 9 pm.
