Lauren Kalman awarded the School of Art International Interdisciplinary Artist-in-Residency Craft & Design Disciplines

We are delighted to congratulate and welcome Lauren Kalman, who was awarded the inaugural International Interdisciplinary Artist-in-Residency Craft & Design Disciplines at ANU School of Art. Lauren Kalman will be working across the Gold and Silversmithing workshop.

Lauren Kalman is a visual artist whose practice is invested in installation, video, photography and performance. Through her work she investigates perspectives of beauty, body image, value, and consumer culture. Kalman’s work focus on creation, documentation and display of sculpture, adornment, photographs and performance. Through her work she brings to bear the connection in visual culture between body and image, media, class and style. Kalman explores bodily ideals through jewelry, objects, and garments that are used in this transformation.

The International Interdisciplinary Artist-in-Residency Craft & Design Disciplines includes travel and material stipend, studio space and lodging. The program is for three weeks in the November/December 2014. 

Kalman will be giving an ANU Art Forum on 5pm Thursday 4 December, 2014 at the theatreet, Sir Roland Wilson Building.
