Marking Place
SHARE

An exhibition about landscape and the poetics of place as expressed through the painting, ceramics and sculpture of three Canberra artists: G.W.Bot, Anita McIntyre and Wendy Teakel.
Marking Place explores the concept of place not only in terms of its geographical and physical dimensions, but also, as a means of expressing memory, imagination and identity. In this exhibition, three senior Canberra artists – G.W. Bot, Anita McIntyre and Wendy Teakel – explore the natural environment from the basis of individual histories, memories and beliefs. Each artist not only ‘marks place’ by conveying an idea or impression of place but also ‘makes her mark’ on the cultural life of our city. Through the works in this
exhibition we are invited to reflect on physical, cultural and spiritual landscapes,
and to gain new perspectives and insights by so doing.
