Martin Rowney at Willoughby Sculpture Prize

Thursday 18 August 2011

Congratulations to Martin Rowley from the ANU School of Art Sculpture workshop for his entry 'Core' in the The Willoughby Sculpture Prize. Martin's statement follows.

‘Core is a response to the history and archaeology of the Willoughby Incinerator and its relationship to rubbish disposal. It reflects the development of the site and changing approaches to consumerism, materialism and waste by showing imagined layers and strata that could conceivably be in the ground at the Incinerator’.
