PhD candidate Andrea McCuaig wins 2015 M16 Drawing Prize

ANU School of Art PhD candidate Andrea McCuaig has been announced as the winner of the 2015 M16 Drawing Prize for her time lapse video work ‘Dance Patterns’. Andrea receives $1000 cash and a special accommodation package at Hyatt Hotel Canberra.
The Highly Commended awards were awarded to ANU School of Art graduate Clare Jackson for her series of 11 mixed media drawings titled 'Leiuburoo (Lost and Found)', and to artist Kerry Johns for her work 'History of an Upland Valley'.
The prize, which has been running since 2006, aims to explore, challenge and create a dialogue around the definition of drawing. It was judged this year by Deborah Hart, Curator of Australian Art at the National Gallery of Australia, and David Hansen, Associate Professor at the Centre for Art History and Theory, ANU School of Art.
The selected finalists are Amy Dunn, Andrea McCuaig, Annie Trevillan, Annika Romeyn, Averil Harris, Cedric Mims, Christopher Burton, Clare Jackson, Damien Veal, David Keany, Ella Whateley, Emma Beer, Emma Hodges, Evan Williams, Georgia Black, Grace Blake, Hannah Beasley, Jacob Potter, Jake Blaschka, Jefrey Rudolf, John Carey, Kerry Johns, Lizzie Hall, Louisa Giffard, Margaret Salt, Martin Claydon, Megan Dixon Dawes, Millan Pintos-Lopez, Nicci Haynes, Racheal Milne, Rebecca Setnicar, Sally Blake, Shags, Valeska Tilly, Vijaya Sen and Yelena Bolevich.
The work of all finalists is showing in the M16 Drawing Prize exhibition until Sunday 20 December 2015, at M16 Artspace.
