School of Art & Design staff designs crest for Wright Hall

Monday 6 August 2018

A team of academic and professional staff from School of Art & Design has recently designed a crest for the new Wright Hall student accomodation at ANU.

Head of Gold and Silversmithing at SOA&D, Rohan Nicol said: "Our brief was to design and produce a crest for Wright Hall. The crest will be placed on the exterior of the new hall and communicate the shared values under which this new residential community will form. The Latin terms Tenacitas, Comitas, Gratia were chosen by Professor Elizabeth Minchin and her colleagues at ANU in the School of Literature, Languages and Linguistics, in consultation with Lousie & Graham Tuckwell who have funded the project. Louise Tuckwell describes the values as meaning “Get on with it, get on with each other and be grateful”. We are proud to be involved and are preparing to install the crest in December 2018." The design team consisted of Rohan Nicol, Head of Glass Richard Whiteley and Technical Officer in Gold and Silversmithing Sean Booth.
