ANU School of Art Sculpture alumnus Louis Pratt has won the inaugural Mount Buller Sculpture Award this year. Judge Doug Hall AM awarded Pratt the $100,000 prize from a pool of 78 entrants which was shortlisted to 22 pieces. The shortlist of displayed works also included former School of Art Head of Sculpture Michael Le Grand and Furniture Alumnus Matthew Harding.

Pratt said of his sculpture "I was thinking about the mountains and the location … it was all about sight, voyeurism and the effects of optics." The piece will be permanently installed at Mount Buller later in the year. The award will continue as one of the richest sculpture prizes in Australia and aims to contstruct a mountain-top sculpture park.
