Wright Hall Crest, Australian National University (2018)

Artist: Rohan Nicol
Funding: ANU/Tuckwell Education Fund ($100,000 budget)
Rohan lead this collaborative project with Associate Professor Richard Whiteley and Sean Booth. In January 2018 The ANU SOA&D was engaged by Graham and Louise Tuckwell to develop a crest and visual communication strategy for Wright Hall, a new ANU residential hall that opened in January 2019. Rohan led concept development and specified the design via computer aided modelling and worked with a small team to bring the project to fruition. The crest is 4 metres high, internally lit and fixed to the exterior of the building 30 metres above ground level. The design will also be applied to all print and digital branding collateral that were publicly launched in July by the Vice Chancellor and Louise Tuckwell.
The Wright Hall Crest will serve to inspire a collective identity and unite a community of people under the shared values of the motto for Wright Hall: Tenacitas, Comitas, Gratia. Interpreted as "Get on with it, get on with each other and be grateful".
