Dr Robert Wellington presents at Bard Graduate Centre, New York

Dr Robert Wellington, from ANU Centre for Art History and Art Theory has presented at the Françoise and Georges Selz Lectures on 18th- and 19th-Century French Decorative Arts and Culture at the Bard Graduate Center in New York City. His talk, entitled “Sun King to Moon King: Emulating the Grand Siècle in the Eighteenth and Nineteenth Centuries”, explored the appropriation and transformation of Louis XIV iconography and period style in eighteenth- and nineteenth-century decorative arts.

Robert Wellington specialises in the material and intellectual culture of Louis XIV’s court. His book Antiquarianism and the Visual Histories of Louis XIV: Artifacts for a Future Past was launched in September 2015.
