The lived experience of a changing landscape
To be opened 6pm Wednesday 18 September
by David Williams, Emeritus Professor
Shaping Canberra: the lived experience of a changing landscape, is an exhibition of fresh new work by eighteen Canberra artists―Alex Asch, Ampersand Duck and byrd, Tim Brook and Arne Hanna, Lucile Carson, Lea Collins and Mary Hutchison, Josh Dykgraaf, U.K Frederick, Brenda Goggs, Ruth Hingston, Martyn Jolly, Jenni Kemarre Martiniello, Christopher Oates, Torben Sko and Paul Murray, and Annie Trevillian. They combine their own sense of Canberra's changing landscape with explorations of material held in local collections and archives.
The artists worked in a wide variety of media and styles reflecting the diverse textures of the built and natural landscape of Canberra. Glass, textiles, painting, digital media, photography, installation, street art, typography and mixed media are all represented.
This exhibition has been developed in association with Shaping Canberra: the lived experience of place, home and capital, an ANU Humanities Research Centre conference.
